The Billabong/StokedInc team from the Philippines was today setting up for a stint in surfing's dreamland of Bali Indonesia.
It was over to the StokedInc office's in Manila to pack the bags, get some fresh BB product, and new JS surf craft. The team will be out in Bali for a few weeks to tune themselves in to some waves in the lead up to this years Billabong Cloud 9 Invitational in the Philippines, it's quiet times right now in their homeland, with not much swell on offer during the off season. Look out for some blogs on their adventures through Bali, fun times!
CONDITIONS: Some of the world's best tube riders chucked the dice and booked flights to the remote island of Siargao last week, despite a less than assuring forecast. Pay off? Did it ever. We're talkin' clean, hollow, overhead rights at the most famous wave in the Philippines -- uncrowded, unexpected, all weekend long. When Cloud 9 is on, it's on.
A lot of people come to the island carrying the normal beach stuff: light clothing, dark sunglasses, some sort of sunblock, sometimes a hat. These may be enough for a legit beach holiday destination, places where you can find an actual ATM machine, a convenience store, or even a corner fast food joint. But for a far-flung island like Siargao where transporting things takes a lot of time, money, and effort, you'll definitely be needing more - and maybe less of the usual beach stuff.
